My community college experience was rather much different than most. I first started my community college journey by going to Chaffey Community College in Rancho Cucamonga in the summer of 2008, just after I graduated from Damien High School. After struggling to just find some stability in my life I then attended Los Angeles Trade Technical College in 2011. Since then I’ve done the best I can with continuing my education but was not able to fully commit to until 2015. With that, I went to Moreno Valley College.

Three California Community Colleges Programs Honored with Chancellor’s Student Success Award

Rancho Mirage, Calif. — In recognition of the “ambitious and unstinting” efforts of three California community college programs toward fostering student success and equity, Chancellor Brice W. Harris presented the Student Success Award at a ceremony today to representatives of American River College’s Veterans Resource Center, Merced Community College District’s Study Central, and Solano Community College’s Umoja Program Scholars.

2015 Transfer Scholarship Recipient

The Umoja Community is proud to announce that Dieudonne Brou has been selected to receive the 2015 Transfer Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.  Dieudonne, an Umoja program participant at Diablo Valley College, will be transferring to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in the fall of 2015.  Dieudonne has been involved with many Umoja events and activities over the last two years and is very excited to be able to continue his education at UCLA where he will major in sociology/psychology.  “My resiliency is my motivation that has humbled and transformed me into a hardworking in
